Wrens are tiny birds with loud voices who figure in folklore. Jenny Wren is a burnt-out academic, a poet above all, an obsessive reader, a music lover, and a Druid in training on the Bardic path. Somehow coming out as bisexual seemed easier than saying, "Yes, all that nonsense I loved in high school as much as I loved nature — the psychology of Tarot and runes, the tickly feeling of holding a shell, bone, or crystal — and now the reverence of offering my poems to Gods, ancestors, and the spirits of the land: I claim all of that for me." At this stage of life, Celtic Reconstructionism fits me like a comfortable sweater that also happens to be chic, even sexy. And I'm writing and reading more poetry. That can't be a bad thing.
